Women's Retreat -- Loving Well

Women from LIFEChurch got together during a weekend retreat to gain insight on how to love others and what it meant to be well loved as they followed Beth Moore and her "Loving Well" video series. Through Moore's teachings the women learned that ALL love comes from God, and with that love, they can learn to love others in their lives, even the challenging ones. This message was further enhanced with four very powerful and inspiring "Confessions of Love" that were repeated during every session of the weekend bible study. These included: God is perfect love; nothing can separate me from God's perfect love; God pours His perfect love into my imperfect heart; and accessed, I can love anyone through anything.
The retreat took place at a farm in Fayetteville, Texas, and was the perfect setting for the women to connect with God and focus on the message being taught. In between the Bible study sessions, the women engaged in fellowship, worship music and skits. In the evening there was even time to sit around a camp fire and roast marshmallows.
Every woman that attended the LIFEChurch Women's retreat was transformed through Moore's teachings in the way they approach loving others. Here is what just a few of them had to say:
At the Loving Well retreat, Beth Moore used a familiar Bible passage (1 John Chapter 4) to get me thinking in a new way. She shared how we can't love others unless we are well loved. When she described that we view the people around us in four different ways: Joy, Testy, Foe, & Far, I immediately started putting people's names to the titles. God, in His perfect love, sees all people as Joy, and it is His desire that I love others, as well. I was challenged to think about how I can use the talents and gifts that God has given me to show the type of love and compassion that God gives, not only to those that are a Joy, but also to the Testys, Foes, & Fars. -- Diane
I have learned that God helps us to love more than our ability to do so and to leave our hard love at the altar. God's love empowers us. Melody made the music special... and I have a lot more "joy" friends that I got to know on the 'road trip'. This is one of those times when more was delivered than was expected! -- Cynthia
What I got out of this retreat is that realization that I cannot manufacture God's love. And I've kind of been doing that although it is out of a pure motive which is to reflect God's love. But I cannot love every type. In fact, I cannot love most types of people in my own strength. I have to ask God to first fill me up with His Love to overflowing in order to truly be a blessing and truly be able to love well. I need to START my day with God. Making Him the priority above all else. Maybe it's a mom thing, maybe it's a woman thing, maybe it's just a human thing, but I put myself last on the list every time and I can't do that here. I have to accept His love first, before I can really show love without strings attached. - Mel
Since the retreat the women continue the study as they write in their "Loving Well" journals reflecting and applying what Moore taught: accepting God's perfect love for us so that we can love all kinds of people that we come across in our lives - the Joy, the Testy, the Foe and the Far - and to LOVE them all WELL.
