All Churches are born out of God intersecting with human experiences.
LIFEChurch Fort Bend is no exception.
Mike's walk with God.
Mike Baker, the Pastor of LIFEChurch, was raised in the Baptist Church. At age 16 he felt God’s promptings for the ordained ministry. While serving in the United States Air Force and attending the University of Texas in Austin, Pastor Mike and his wife, Kim, attended the Episcopal Church. Once again, Pastor Mike was prompted and reminded of his previous call to serve God in full time ministry. God shaped Pastor Mike within the Baptist (evangelical) and Episcopal (grace) denominations to have a heart for those outside the church. Early on, Pastor Mike re-started a college ministry at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, built St. Andrew’s Church in Pearland, and later, planted a new congregation in Sugar Land, Texas. After 15 years of ministry there, God called Pastor Mike to plant a new church — Life Church Fort Bend.
The LIFEChurch Story
In the Fall of 2006, 50 families from the surrounding area, gathered to organize a new church – LIFE Church Fort Bend. It is our vision to become a faith community, that seeks to love God and one another with all our hearts and to serve those whom God loves – the least of these.
So whether you're just beginning to ask questions about God or have been in church all your life, there’s a place for you with LIFEChurch Fort Bend.
A New Chapter
On Sunday, March 26, 2012, the congregation of LC voted to join forces with the Evangelical Covenant Church, at the ECC 2012 annunal meeting. Working with a larger entity allows LC to do more serving in the community and globally.
